You should expect your first consultation to last an hour, please bring along any outfits you wish to wear with your hat for style and colour matching, further appointments usually last 25 minutes. If you can't visit in person telephone consultations work really well, styles and colours can be chosen and if you need a colour match lots of ladies send their outfit via royal mail signed for delivery service, this ensures the perfect colour match to your outfit. Your outfit will be posted back with your hat. Alternatively, if your outfit is current stock leigh is happy to colour match if the store is local, there is usually a small charge for this service 


Royal Ascot

Steeped in history and the highlight of the racing calendar this week is a chance for millinery and fashion to be seen on a global scale. There is a strict dress code for the Royal enclosure, hats should have a base of at least 10cm and outfits must meet criteria, click here for more details. Laylaleigh hats are a regular site in both the Royal enclosure and the Grandstand, and are regularly featured gracing the worlds press and online publications. 



Once your design has been agreed a 50% deposit is required, this is a non-refundable deposit that will secure your studio time, the time needed to create your piece, this will be deducted from the final price prior to collection/delivery. The design agreed is based on the requirements of the client at that time, should you wish to add, change or embellish the design the price will increase accordingly, you will be advised along the way of any increases. Any specific materials required should be advised at the initial consultation. As all pieces are made to order, you are unable to return your chosen piece. All hats are handmade in the UK by a small team, each piece is made to order and no two hats are the same, "sisters not twins" we try to recreate as best we can but there will be differences between two hats that are made to be the same, this is the beauty of a handmade design. Our bespoke pieces are made to order, many designs will continue to be sold year after year, we own the rights to each design. 

How is my hat fitted?

Our hats are all typically fitted with elastic, matched to your hair colour are extremely comfortable and they make your piece wearable. We get many calls from customers saying they wore their hat into the wee small hours dancing the night away! All hats should be worn on the right (except trilbys) see our care card for instructions on how to put your hat on.


How do I measure for a hat myself? 

If you are unable to visit the showroom and wish to have a hat made that requires a snug fit, ie trilby or hat with a crown, simply take a tape measure and starting at your forehead take the measure around the circumference of your head at the widest part over the top of your ears. Shipping and delivery

We proudly deliver worldwide, each delivery outside of the UK is quoted on an individual basis. Please allow 2-4 weeks for delivery as each piece is made to order by hand in the UK. We can turn hats around faster should you need to please contact us and we'll do our best to accommodate. The appropriate courier will be selected and quoted prior to shipping. Contact us for further details, for deliveries within the UK we charge £20 for an overnight delivery service and each hat comes in its own hat box safely packaged in a larger box for transit.  


How do I track my order?

All laylaleigh hats are sent next day signed for delivery with royal mail, this gives us a unique tracking number to track your order. unless otherwise arranged. We quote 5 days shipping on the payment page to allow for any minor adjustments that may arise, ie, elastic colour change or trims. If you have any concerns or special delivery requirements please do not hesitate to contact us.
