Duchess of Richmond
Duchess of Richmond is named after Hilda Brassey, the 8th Duchess of Richmond. She was a
remarkable lady who, together with her husband, was instrumental in modernising the Goodwood Estate. She was an accomplished sportswoman, excelling both at horse riding and cricket. She attended the first meeting of the Women’s Institute in England, held in Charlton. She was awarded the DBE in 1946 as recognition of her many achievements.
